O trabalho discute as contribuições do padrão Data Documentation Initiative (DDI) para a gestão de dados de pesquisa em bibliotecas e repositórios institucionais. Metodologicamente, caracteriza-se como pesquisa bibliográfica, de natureza descritiva e exploratória, desenvolvida a partir de revisão narrativa da literatura sobre gestão de dados, metadados e documentação de dados científicos. Os resultados indicam que o DDI favorece descrição granular, interoperabilidade e compartilhamento de dados científicos, além de apoiar práticas de curadoria digital e preservação de contexto metodológico. Conclui-se que o padrão apresenta potencial para fortalecer serviços de gestão de dados de pesquisa em bibliotecas.
